Not In My House
Not in My House (working title) by Alejandro Rodriguez is a contemporary adaptation of Federico Garcia Lorca’s final full-length play, House of Bernarda Alba, completed only two months before his assassination. In Rodriguez’s version, the action is transposed to working-class Miami, and the titular matriarch is a recently exiled Cuban mother of five.
During this five day program, we workshopped Alejandro's beautiful script to fine tune the story and find ways to help him best convey his message to the world. In addition to three days of revisions and table work, we staged a live reading on the last two days and received audience feedback in our post-show talkback.
